The Slug (59 A-H Sprite)
The slug was originally build in the sixties as a racing sports car, and ran with a B-series motor. When we got the car it wasnt running so a rebuild was in order. When we rebuilt the car with the idea of running the originally planned B-series motor but after numerous attempts at getting the motor to work it was decided that a cheaper alternative was needed. Ian measured up the engine bay and went down to a Japanese motor sales joint and found a motor that would fit and be effective. The motor he chose was the Z18 Turbo Nissan. It was installed and run with the standard computer and standard internals. In early misadventures we found ourseves playing with boost levels and at Eastern Creek, needing that little bit more power, the boost was turned up just a pinch. One very used motor later, the car is as it is today, except for the inclusion of a new full rollcage a few years ago. Now we have installed a boost guage so its no longer a stab in the dark as to how much boost we are pulling. Recent runs have shown we are pulling 10PSI down the straights, which is alot more than we expected but it works so itll stay the same. The car is a pleasure to drive and is really easy to drive quickly. Twice now (myself and friend Brett Manewell) a driver new to the car and new to rear wheel drive, has excelled behind the wheel and driven just as fast as my father who has 10 more years experience. Definatly a delight, at speed or in motorkhanas.

Esme (64 A-H Sprite)
Esme is Mums toy. The car is a MkIII Sprite which has seen days in many conditions. At Original purchase, it was a concourse spec car which was very pretty and had al the standard characteristics of a Sprite(not a bad thing I might add) Since then, the car received a roll bar with reinforcing braces, a 1275 Cooper S motor and basically over time the overall spec of the car has gradually increased. It now runs a mild cam and reliable compression, making the car for both road and track. We have road tyres (Falken GRB's) and race rubber(Yokohamas and Bridgestones) and with the option of windscreen removal and lightened doors, this car can be quite competitive on many playing feilds. Yet with the addition of the hardtop and replacement of the heater, we have a classic rally car, as it has beeen used in the past. Nowaday its used for National Challenges and Motorkhanas with the odd rally thrown in for good measure.
